Cheyenne Hawkins
B. 1981, Renton WA
Cheyenne Hawkins was born in Renton, Washington. While growing up in the nearby town of Issaquah, she lost her mother at an early age to cancer. She later moved to Montana with her family where she attended school and lent her helping hand in the family business — an art gallery. She was constantly surrounded by art and was strongly influenced by it. Her family then decided to venture to Santa Fe, New Mexico, the “city of art,” where she finished her schooling. In her constant search of inspiration within herself and in life, she moved to New York City. After several years, she and her ten-year-old daughter, "Auriah Indigo," have returned to the heart of where her father and mother's journey began in Bellevue, Washington.
"My painting process is a journey of escaping reality and everyday life. With expressive movements, I subtract and add colors to arrange and rearrange. It’s when I allow myself to be lost in my work and free of inhibitions that my true self can be expressed on the canvas. And with this free imagination, there forms a mysterious dance between shapes and figures which leaves my depiction of the ever-changing face and temperament of abstraction.
These images are an expression of my pain, my love, and the passion that cumulate to be who I am in life. I tell my story through my paint with every stroke and every matching emotion, for the human expression is what I value the most in my work and the cornerstone of how I stay true to the medium. I strive to create new, refreshing, and exciting art with an unwavering passion for what I do. These paintings are a glimpse into my world and a raw representation of me.”
Everything you need, desire, and seek are all within you. The validation of your worthiness that you are seeking is within you. Be a reflection of what you'd like to receive. If you want love, give love. If you want respect, give respect. If you want truth, be truthful.
Your reality is only a projection of what is within you.
Your perception of me is a reflection of you; My reaction to you is an awareness of me. "We all paint our own reality." - Cheyenne Hawkins
